Voices from the Field: A Mother's Journey

"Before the health workers came to our village, I was afraid," says Fatima, a 28-year-old mother of three from a small village in western Bangladesh. "My first two pregnancies were difficult, and I had no one to help."

Fatima's story is not unique. Many women in rural areas face pregnancy and childbirth without access to basic healthcare. But through our maternal health program, things are changing.

A New Beginning

When Fatima became pregnant with her third child, she was connected with Amina, a community health worker trained through our program. Amina visited Fatima regularly throughout her pregnancy, monitoring her health and providing guidance.

"Amina became like a sister to me," Fatima recalls. "She taught me about nutrition, helped me prepare for the birth, and was there when my baby was born."

Today, Fatima's youngest child, Rahim, is a healthy two-year-old. And Fatima has become an advocate for maternal health in her community.
